Cambodian officers accused of people smuggling

From SAFETY AT SEA INTERNATIONAL

THE MASTER and chief engineer of the Cambodian-flagged cargo ship Sea Omar have been charged with people smuggling in Greece.

Police said the men were arrested yesterday after 15 migrants without documents disembarked from the 1,562dwt vessel at Platiyalli’s port on Greece’s West Coast.

The ship drew the attention of coastguards when it ran aground at the entrance to the port while en route from Ukraine to Israel with a cargo of potatoes.
