MARITIME | Denmark to separate accident investigation from the maritime authority

Denmark is to set up a new independent maritime accident investigation unit to meet EU guidelines.

Minister of economic and business affairs Brian Mikkelsen is drafting a new bill that will replace the existing bureau, which is under the control of the Danish Maritime Authority, Maritime Danmark said.

The European Union wants to ensure all accidents are probed independently of national marine authorities.
